Homemade Hummus with Nutribullet

I have owned a Nutribullet for nearly a year now and I have tried lot’s of recipes except the home made hummus one. Here are the ingredients that you will need to make the hummus from scratch. I normally buy quite a lot of store bought hummus as I love to toast pitta bread and dip them in the hummus. This ingredients makes quite a lot of hummus that will last 3-5 days chilled. I got the recipe from the recipe booklet that came with the Nutribullet.

You will need:
2 Cloves of Garlic
2 cups of canned chickpeas rinsed and well drained
1 tsp sea salt
1/3 cup of tahini
Juice of 2 fresh lemons
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
vegetables or pitta bread to dip

I blended all the ingredients into my Nutribullet and tasted it as it was being blended. You may have to stop a couple of times to make sure it’s mixed properly and that the chick peas aren’t stuck.

The hummus took a little bit longer to get right than planned. I had to add some water into the Nutribullet to get the right texture and to also make sure all the chickpeas were blended. I filled a whole sandwich container full of hummus for the week. You can add cooked red peppers into the blender if you like. The texture was perfect and the taste was sweet and you could tell there was a little difference to shop bought hummus some kind of ingredients was missing for it to be the exact same. The home-made hummus tasted a lot fresher than store bought hummus I would love to make this again when it’s warm as it would be perfect for a BBQ and a great snack for everyone.
