The other week I was lucky enough to get sent some invites to some catwalk shows at Fashion Scout which is in Covent Garden. I have been before in February where I saw two shows. When it comes to London Fashion Week there are three types of shows you have the fashion graduates which are the up and coming designers and their shows are at the Fashion Scout. You then have the known designers which showcase their collections at Somerset House and then you have the well-known designer brands such as Burberry and Mulberry who exhibit their collections in hotels/buildings around London.
My first show of the season was the one to watch at the Fashion Scout. It consisted of three designers Hannah Williams, Helen Lawrence and Renli Su. Before the show I had never heard of the up and coming designers before or seen any of their designs.
Helen studied at Central Saint Martin’s where she trained with Alexander McQueen and Mark Fast. Helen has also worked with Craig Green. She shows a strong technique and creative textiles and is becoming well known to the press.
Renli studied at London College of Fashion doing a MA in Fashion Design and Technology. Renli uses a lot of hand-made techniques and lots of different fabrics that she then reconstructs. Hannah Williams
She has just won Fashion Graduate Week and on Friday she showcased her Spring Summer collection 2014 at the Fashion Scout in Covent Garden. I really like going to see the up and coming shows at the Fashion Scout as the designs are more creative than those if you were going to a well-known designer. Creative as in you cant purchase the designs or stock them in store as they are just showing different fabrics and how different techniques are used. Whereas let’s say the Rocha show you can buy them straight away and they are ready to be worn.
Have you seen any shows at the Fashion Scout before?
